Horseracing News Update: Danny McMenamin strengthens his position, set to stay on top!

Winning the race on Sunday at Market Rasen, Danny McMenamin achieved his claim on the title, and now his attention is directed towards keeping his position in the British Conditional Jockey’s Championship.

The young 20 years old jockey based in Nicky Richard’s Cumbria team riding trainer Henry Hogarth’s Archie Brown who is set on 25/1, planning to pose a challenge to the currently standing champion Jonjo O’Neill, as well as the other contesters such as Bryony Frost, Harry
Cobden, and James Bowen.

Happy with Current Progress

McMenamin is happy with how things are going in his career, especially now that he achieved the highest number of wins this season and as he managed to ride out his claim on Sunday. His career is taking a good turn as the number of contracts in England’s North is expanding giving him a chance to pick up rides throughout the season.

This brought a satisfying position to the North since McMenamin and Brian Hughes (Top on the main championship list) look good at the top of the chart lists, giving hopes to the North to claim top positions on both fronts, a rare situation for the North. McMenamin is currently in front of Carver Bryan by five.

Northern Ireland

Both McMenamin and Hughes started in Northern Ireland as they hail from there and have both had similar paths towards the North of England three years prior, advised by Tonny Dobbin, a former jockey. McMenamin shows gratefulness to Nicky Richard for providing with opportunities from the start as he moved over, as well as to Brian Harding for the advices he has given him as his coach.

Back in 2018, McMenamin made a great breakthrough by reaching first in the Greatwood Hurdle with Nietzsche (seven pound claimer), and after that the Old Roan Chase Great 2 with Nuts Well in autumn. Through this and other achievements, McMenamin built a good relationship with the Old Roan partner horse, who even though hasn’t seen races since the event last seasons is being trained and getting ready for Aintree scheduled in April this year.

There is a possibility for the horse to have another run prior to this one, with the confirmations still pending.

Keeping Track of Progress

McMenamin is keeping track of Nuts Well’s progress, checking on him and strengthening the bonds occasionally. The last time he sat on him McMenamin stated that the horse is in a great shape, adding that less than ideal ground has been with him in the last months, but may it be
suitable in the beginning of March, we may see him at Kelso in the Premier Chase that has been set for 6th next month.
