When is the Welsh Grand National race?

The Welsh Grand National is just around the corner and some of the United Kingdom’s biggest names in horse racing will send charges to Chepstow for the event. The 2022 edition of the Welsh Grand National will be the first since 2019 to welcome fans back to Chepstow Racecourse.

The COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on people attending live sporting events prevented fans from being on hand in 2020 and 2021. The return of fans should make the 2022 edition of the race even more exciting.

The Welsh Grand National 2022 is the ideal sporting event during the Christmas holiday break. Horse racing fans can use the 888 promo code for betting on the Welsh Grand National this December.

Secret Reprieve won the Welsh Grand National in 2019 in front of an empty grandstand. Iwilldoit won the race the following year with no fans in attendance. This year’s race at Chepstow will feature a prize purse of £150,000.

Sportsbooks have 51 horses listed as potentially running the Welsh Grand National 2022. The number of runners is incredibly large, with bookmakers paying each way for the first four places. Quick Wave is the early favourite at odds of 9/2, but this year’s event will feature some top-notch competitors, including previous winner Iwilldoit.

When is the Welsh Grand National 2022?
The Welsh Grand National will take place on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. The race is the ideal sporting event for horse racing fans following Christmas. The race will begin at 2:00 PM. The race will be televised on ITV4 in the United Kingdom.

The biggest event in Welsh horse racing is expected to welcome over 10,000 fans to Chepstow. With it being the first Welsh Grand National to welcome fans in three years, the race is expected to be well attended.

The Welsh Grand National is the biggest race of the day, but it isn’t the only horse race at Chepstow on December 27. There will be seven big races across the day with the Grand National being the marquee event.

Which horses will run the Welsh Grand National 2022?
Fifty-one horses have entries for the event at Chepstow this month. The final declaration for the race is December 22. The race will be cut down to 20 runners. The field will contest the race along the 3-mile-six-and-a-half-furlong event. The race will see the 20 competitors take on 23 challenging fences.

Can Iwilldoit repeat as Welsh Grand National winner?
Last year’s Grand National winner, Iwilldoit, isn’t guaranteed to run this year’s race. Trainer Sam Thomas will make a final decision on Iwilldoit’s participation in the race closer to the time of the event.

The horse hasn’t raced in 2022. Iwilldoit’s last race was at the Welsh Grand National 2021 when the gelding ran to glory at Chepstow. The chaser scampered through the mud to win by nine lengths. The muddy course in 2021 saw just five horses complete the Grand National.

The 2022 edition of the Grand National will bring a banner year for Welsh sports to an end. With fans welcomed back to Chepstow and £150,000 in prize money up for grabs, it should be a great day at the races.
