Entrainment In Horses – Bicycle Sacking Out – Pressure Release & Rhythm

Video Provided By:  Think Like A Horse This guy is hilarious and a little crazy!  I enjoyed watching; Rick made me laugh several times and I do agree with some of his philosophies. Buddy and Mr. T were entertained and well spoiled.  Rick truly loves his horses.  You can see a little favoritism toward Buddy though lol 🙂 The Following description is from Think Like A Horse Youtube page: Watch this video first before watching this video so you will know what I am explaining. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fahpB… What is entrainment? It has many meanings for this video it is the connect between living things through a force or oscillation of sound, feelings, movement or emotional connection. When 1000’s of fish change direction at the exact same time, when a herd of horses move together like a flowing river, when a flock of birds change flight patterns in unison, when women living together pick up the same menstrual cycle, when you are around a negative person and it brings you down or around a positive upbeat person and it lifts you up, entrainment is a connect with other living things or unseen forces. It is a synchronization of two or more rhythmic cycles. Rhythm is a important part of entrainment. In physics there is less energy used when 2 objects are entrained with each other. Huygens first discovered this in the 1600’s when he was working on pendulum clocks and noticed that when two pendulums were put next to each other, when were initially swinging at different rates and times, over time they adjoined and took on the same movement and timing. They entrained onto each other and became in one in rhythm and timing. When two beating hearts are put next to each other they start to beat in the same pattern and in rhythm. Your body contains an autonomic mechanism that syncs you up with strong, external rhythms, pulses or beats and this happens all the time but most are not aware of it. So entrainment is all around us, but with horses it seems to be very strong. Horses feed on others, people, other animals and other horses, they pick up and join in on things like fear, flight, fight, insecurity, confidence, panic and other human actions, reactions and emotions. So when working with and being around horses, it is extremely important to be aware of what you are giving off and how you handle things like fear, insecurity, uncertainty, confusion and other things. For 100’s of years people have said horses mirror their environment, they are a mirror of the person riding them or handling them. Horses give back what they get. They react to what energy you give off, they pick up your heart beat, your emotions and know what is going to happen before it happens. In the first video where my two horses join up, face me, stand together, then break at the exact same time are all examples of entrainment. Understanding this will only help you know that when things go bad with horses it is because of you and what you gave out or gave to the horse. When a horse fails, panics or reacts poorly, look at yourself and you will see why it happened. Here is video of a Bird picking up the rhythm of moving in synchronized movement with the beat of the music, another form of entrainment.
