Training a Commercial Pair of Friesians.

Meet Sheckle and Shilling, a pair of Friesian geldings who are decidedly mismatched as a pair! Sheckle (offside) is shorter with a stouter barrel and Shilling (nearside) is slighter in build and has a longer neck and legs. Luckily, back home their owners have matching partners for the pair of them and once they are up together and working well, they will be used in a team of four for all sorts of occasions, including weddings, funerals and proms. Barry also managed to get them going together nicely as a pair – quite a feat when you can see that Shilling’s legs are a good 4 inches longer than his partner’s!

Aside from their differences physically, they also have very different personality traits and outlooks on life, highlighting that regardless of breed or sometimes even upbringing – as these boys have been together since they were foals – each horse is an individual and must be treated and trained as such.
