Fielding (Fred Astair – Lessing), Hanoverian Hunter Stallion
Video Provided By: Hilltop Farm
From the first foal crop of the Hanoverian stallion Fred Astaire, Fielding offers new bloodlines to the Hilltop Farm stallion line-up and important diversity for North American breeders. His sire Fred Astaire is an FEI dressage stallion that won his Intermediaire I debut in 2008 with Tom Noone. Fred Astaire’s sire, Fabriaino, won his Performance Testing with a score of 133 points and high marks in both the dressage and jumping portions. He has produced more than 10 approved sons, more than 50 State Premium Mares, and almost 50 candidates for the Verden Elite Auctions. Fielding’s dam Lesley is by Lessing, a former Celle State Stud stallion who was exported to Canada to stand at Spruce Meadows. A Grand Prix jumper himself, Lessing sired talented jumpers and event horses who were known for their level-headedness and excellent canters. Lessing was by Lugano I, the most successful son of the Thoroughbred improvement sire, Der Loewe xx. Lesley’s damsire, Banter, was from the proven Bolero/Grande breeding nick and Banter daughters in particular have been valued as broodmares in North America. In 2007, Fielding was licensed by the American Hanoverian Society. He proceeded on to the 100-day stallion test and finished as the top placed North American bred stallion and in fifth place overall. His overall score of 125 points earned the Class I designation and a 9 on character and 8’s on temperament, ability to work, willingness to work, rideability, and general jumping aptitude marked his highlights. Fielding offers powerful movement marked with a consistent, steady rhythm and an active, engaged hindleg. His jumping ability offers both scope and classic technique, and his enthusiasm for this work is obvious. He shows remarkable composure as a young stallion and has an inherent desire to please his rider. Fielding moved to Hilltop Farm in the fall of 2008 and we look forward to his competitive debut and the birth of his first foals in 2009.
