Equestrian Connection

Video Provided By:    Western Junior Whitney Fleming has been riding horses her entire life and is now the WWU Equestrian Team president. Unlike other Western club sport teams, they feed, clean and ride teammates that can be 1,200 pounds and don’t speak a human language. By reading horses’ body language and working to build relationships with their mounts, they are able to overcome these boundaries to prevent injuries like concussions and compete effectively. This video was shot, edited and produced by Western Washington University Journalism students Brooke Warren, Jordan Whitford and Mindon Win. Special thanks to Whitney Fleming and the WWU Equestrian Team.
