Betting on the thoroughbreds can be pretty straightforward, but it can also be quite complex.  If you want to go for the safest and simple bets, you can place a win or a place. But if you’re going to bet more than once, you can also bet on the exotic types of bets. The following explains the standard and exotic bets you can place in horse racing.

Straight Bets
● Win – is incredibly straightforward. It’s the common and popular bet on the market. It is betting on what horse you think will win first place.
● Place – is betting on the horse you think will finish in first or second place in the race.  The winnings aren’t as big as a win bet, but it still has a nice hit.
● Show – is when the horse chooses places first, second, or third. If you think a horse will do well in the race, but you aren’t sure which  position they’re going to place, show bets are perfect. It’s ideal for first-timers and unsure bettors.

Exotic Bets
● Exacta – Involves picking two horses that will win in first and second place respectively. Undoubtedly, the payout in exacta is higher.
● Trifecta – Bettors have to predict the top three finishers of the Belmont Stakes in correct order. Indeed, it isn’t easy to predict the top three; it’s why trifecta has a big payout.
● Superfecta – Much more difficult than the trifecta, superfecta involves you picking the top four finishers of the race in the correct sequence.
