Remembering Natasha Paterson

Remembering Natasha Paterson

(June 17th 2003 – August 8th 2015)

Natasha was a vibrant young adult who was a gifted student and at the top of her class.

Natasha wanted to be a lawyer and read more books in a week then I did my whole life. Natasha was an active member of the community as a Brownie, girl guide and path finder.

Natasha participated in the fall fair every year and usually won for the most points and most entries. Natasha was also an active participant in the Shelburne Fiddle Fest Parade since Natasha was 6 years old. Natasha was our only child and lost her life at the tender age of only 12 on August 8th 2015 just minutes before the start of the fiddle fest parade when her beloved horse Toby reared up and landed on top of her.  A memorial was started at a tree near where this accident happened in the park.

We have since through a long process with council and a petition had the park Natasha passed away in renamed in her honor Natasha Paterson Memorial Park and recently have had a stone sign installed in Natasha Paterson Memorial Park. We paid for the Park sign/stone, Shelburne paid for the concrete base and installation of the stone.
